What to do if you have lost a pet:

• List the pet on the National Lost and Found website & the Petfinder Lost and Found website.
• Call all local animal shelters, whose numbers are listed below.
• Visit all animal control facilities and local shelters frequently.
• Post flyers in your neighborhood, at local pet shops, shelters, and veterinary clinics.
(make sure to include a picture of your pet and mention any distinctive markings he or she may have.)
• Take out a classified ad in the local paper.

What to do if you have found a pet:

• If the pet you have found has a tag with contact information, try to contact the owner.
• If the pet you have found does not have a tag with information, contact your local animal shelter, whose numbers are listed below.
• Post flyers of the pet in your neigborhood and at veterinarians' offices. You may also place an ad in the classified section of the local newspaper.
